Due to COVID-19 being a complete jerk, volunteering requirements are currently suspended until it's safe to resume normal activities. IF, however, you have a safe means of volunteering, please continue to record your hours and collect your signatures.
Here's an opportunity to be recognized for your volunteering efforts, with prizes!!!

Sorting books at the LPL -- with friends!
'Volunteering' refers to any act of giving in which one benefits another without expecting anything in return.
We'll keep track of volunteering using a point system. 1 point = either 1 clock hour of service or 1 significant act of volunteering (any combination works).
Each student is expected to earn an individual amount of volunteer points each semester. You will set your own goal each semester.
OUR GOAL THIS YEAR IS 100% GOAL ATTAINMENT!!!
1) SET YOUR OWN SEMESTER GOAL.
2) VOLUNTEER.
3) DOCUMENT YOUR VOLUNTEERING.
4) RECORD YOUR RESULTS ON YOUR CHART.
FAQs:
Q: Do I have to?
A: Yes, this is an expectation as part of your participation in this guided studies program.
Q: What if I already do volunteering work?
A: That's great -- you don't need to change anything, other than getting our form filled out and signed.
Q: Can I use volunteering I do through a school activity, like Gardening Club or Student Council?
A: Yes! Get those adults to sign your sheet so we can count your points.
Q: Can I use these volunteering points toward the Presidential Service Award?
A: Yes, and vice versa!
Q: How do I know if it's volunteering?
A: Talk with the adult in charge, and with me. Ask yourself these questions: Was this something I would have done anyway? Did I get some sort of payment or reward? Did I give of myself to help others in some meaningful way? Would I list this experience on a resume if I was applying for a special opportunity?
Ultimately, YOU have to decide whether it counts as volunteering.
Q: What are some things other students are doing for volunteering?
A: Here are some common volunteering ideas:
Fundraise for/Donate to/Work for
*National and international charities, like Habitat for Humanity, Goodwill, Salvation Army, Unicef, etc.
*A local charity, like LINK or Just Food or the Lawrence Community Shelter
*Participate in an organized volunteering club, such as
Builder's Club, Gardening Club, Student Leadership, Scouts, youth groups, 4-H, etc.
*Create your own club or group for volunteering!
Get some friends and family together to donate, or clean up a park, or visit a nursing home, etc.
*Volunteer at PetWorld or the Humane Society or the Public Library
*Volunteer for one of your teachers, a neighbor, or a family member (Remember, chores don't count!)
